Rob Corradeti printing on the Haven Press Screen Printing Press.
Most tools and ancillary equipment- scoop coaters, squeegees, Etching felts, Tympan, Stones, Screens, brayers, rollers, a paper cutter, drying racks, etc etc- are included on a usage basis. You bring yourself, your plates, your paper, and your ink. We try our best to provide everything else.
We have a silkscreen coating area, emulsion coaters, and a quick drying box which can turn a screen around in about an hour from coat to exposure, then an oversized washout booth to develop and clean screens in.
We have an exposure unit capable of handling photoetching, photo-lithography up to 35x43", photopolymer plates up to 11x16", and silkscreen printing up to 43x54".
We also have an Anderson and Vreeland Photopolymer Plate Processor for digital-to-letterpress plates, and and facilities capable of handling the production of KM or SOLAR photopolymer intaglio plates.
We also have a grounds room for handling traditional hard-ball grounds, asphaltum, and messy/stinky processes, as well as a working rosin-based aquatint box for plates up to 20x30.
There is a floor-shear capable of trimming 16 gauge copper up to 30"wide.
Once you've got your plates made, you need to handle paper preparation. You can purchase paper on site or bring your own, but we have a "clean" and smart little production table with T-slot stops so you can do this efficiently, and an approximately 4'X8' cutting-mat surface.
We also provide services on an 18 inch by 23 inch "stationary" oriented stack paper cutter which can be operated for you by the hour*. Sorry, but under no circumstances will we be able to allow you to operate the cutter yourself, and this service will have to be arranged slightly in advance most of the time.
The shop hosts a library of approximately 20 lithography stones which are able to be checked out on a project-by-project basis, along with a large amount (80+) of high quality aluminum frame silkscreens of various sizes (20X24 outer dimension, up to 36X48, and a variety in between, including a host of 30X40 screens with various meshes). Our screens can be rented/used for a nominal fee, provided you reclaim when you're finished (or pay us to do that for you).
Haven Press also houses a collection of lead foundry/handset type, along with various engravings, ornaments, rule, and other letterpress accoutrements for you to hand0-set and print projects from. We have various letterpress BOXCAR plate bases for mounting and printing photopolymer letterpress plates.
