Twelve Photopolymer etchings completed for Johan Voordouw and Aisha Sawatsky, which were exhibited at the 6th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR 2014) “Urban by Nature” biennale.
These works featured .0025" lines; the fineness of the lines required a special type of film and some careful process work to make the plates. Since there was no tone or shading outside of crosshatching, we were able to produce plates without an aquatint and print them in the style of a line etching.
"Each etching is a drawn article that articulates an activity, a different month, a specific weather condition, one of the Netherland’s twelve provinces, and a speculative architectural structure. So this project is a current reflection of the country." - Arch20.com
An article which explains the project from the artist's standpoint can be read here.
Each image is titled with it's corresponding month.
