Untitled Series — Mark Herschede
This series was inspired by SCUBA diving and the brightly colored spaces found underwater. Imbued with a sense of movement, these pieces are intended to be viewed from many distances and angles, creating an opportunity to experience multitudes of sensation from a single object rather than a singular glimpse into a picture plane.

Mark Herschede
Mark Herschede is an artist who primarily makes use of print media. Educated as a metalsmith, then a painter, then a printmaker, the artist has always involved a use of process and mechanism in his work. He views materials as possessing transitional properties and enjoys pushing an image through subtle revisions of process until what results is nothing like it's beginning. Printmaking, with it's heavy sensibilities and phasing of application, is central to his process. His current work with moire and color field is no exception; he is interested in perception, shifts, and changes. His works are imbued with a sense of movement, intended to be viewed from many distances and angles, creating an opportunity to experience multitudes of sensation from a single object rather than a singular glimpse into a picture plane.
